Job description

This team offers the opportunity of working in statutory Children's Services in a team which combines the functions of an assessment and referral team with a long-term team to improve outcomes for children and to keep children safe.

The role offers an array of experiences and whilst challenging, it is equally rewarding. The aims and purpose of the adolescent team is to provide specialist social care intervention for young people aged 11 to 18 who are at risk of, or involved in, peer on peer abuse as a primary risk factor. This includes, but is not exclusive to, the below issues arising:

  • Repeat Missing Children
  • Child Sexual Exploitation
  • Child Criminal Exploitation
  • Violent and Disruptive Behaviour
  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse
  • Gang Affiliation
  • Weapon Related Crimes

Social workers in the team often support adolescents subject to Child in Need and Child Protections plans and some Looked after Children, as well as undertake pre-proceedings and court work. Undertaking duty is a core part of the role alongside an allocated caseload.
