Highways Technical Inspector

An experienced Highways Technical Inspector required for site inspections in relation to both the New Road and Street Works Act 1991 and Highways Act 1980, proactively identifying non-compliant sites

To provide technical support service in all of the areas of work within the Service such as:

Involvement in all aspects of New Roads and Street Works operational activities

Building works affecting the highway

Monitoring & processing of Tables & Chairs applications

Highway Inspections

Highway Enforcement

Processing of Temporary Traffic Management Orders

Any other technical support work

To monitor utility activities in accordance with the New Roads and Streets Work Act including inspections and the identification of defects

To monitor and assist in the assessment of the suitability of sites for building works affecting the public highway.

To assist in the processing of Temporary Traffic Orders for works taking place on public highways and special events including site visits to confirm diversionary routes.

To assist in the monitoring of sites and assessment of the suitability of sites to place tables and chairs on the public highway and to liaise with Street Environment Services as necessary.

To be involved in the processing of applications to site cranes on the public highway.

To proactively identify highway defects during the course of duties

To carry out, as required, highway enforcement duties under the Highways Act of 1980
