Job description

Would you like to be a Fostering Social and join a fast developing Fostering Service which is focusing on the continual raising of standards for Children in Care in Havering? Based on the 7th floor of Mercury House, Romford, the Fostering service works in partnership with all areas of the department and other professions and can offer a supportive, welcoming team with good opportunities for training and developing areas of specific specialism and interest around the support and development needs of Foster Carers and their families in meeting the needs of young people placed with them.

The role requires building good working relationships, ability to develop skills in others working systemically with networks, maintaining good quality case notes and producing reports which are timely and of a high quality, presenting appropriate and pertinent evidence based reports to Fostering and Adoption Panel, and a variety of meetings.
You will be a key member of the team around the Foster Carers and children in their care, working within regulations and guidance which includes the Fostering Minimum Standards, and ensuring the Foster Carers are fully equipped and continually supported in their development to give the very best care and support to young people in care in Havering.

There will be also be opportunities to facilitate support groups and training and participate in training alongside Foster Carers. You will need to have an understanding of the needs and challenges for young people in the care system and the challenges and rewards Foster Carers face in their role in order to support and maintain safe, high quality, stable placements.
