About the Role

We are seeking skilled and enthusiastic Locum Educational Psychologists to join a dynamic and supportive Educational Psychology Service based in Peterborough. This opportunity is ideal for HCPC-registered Educational Psychologists or those in Year 2 or 3 of doctoral training who are looking for flexible working arrangements while maintaining a high level of professional engagement.

The role involves mainly face-to-face work in schools and educational settings across the Peterborough area, offering a great opportunity to build meaningful relationships with schools, children, young people, and families.

You will be part of a forward-thinking service that values collaboration, evidence-based practice, and professional autonomy.

About the Service

You will be joining a well-established and highly regarded Educational Psychology Service that works closely with schools, settings, and families to support positive outcomes for children and young people. The service is known for:

  • Delivering both statutory (EHCNA) and traded work across a range of settings.

  • Operating through a consultation-led model, promoting early intervention and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Providing training and supervision programmes, including initiatives such as ELSA and MELSA.

  • Maintaining a strong focus on continuous professional development, supervision, and reflective practice.

  • Working in partnership with Trainee Educational Psychologists, Assistants, and Psychology Assistants to extend access to psychological services.

As a Locum Educational Psychologist, you will:

  • Deliver face-to-face consultations, assessments, and psychological advice in schools and educational settings across Peterborough.

  • Support schools in delivering the graduated approach and inclusive practices for children and young people with additional needs.

  • Apply up-to-date psychological theory, research, and legislation to inform practice.

  • Design and deliver training and supervision for education staff.

  • Contribute to service development and bring your own professional expertise to a supportive team environment.

We are looking for professionals who are:

  • HCPC-registered Educational Psychologists (or in Year 2/3 of doctoral training).

  • Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal and consultation skills.

  • Confident in delivering psychology in a face-to-face, community-based role.

  • Reflective, organised, and able to manage their own caseload effectively.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to the needs of schools and families.

What's on Offer

  • Flexible locum arrangements to suit your availability.

  • Competitive daily/hourly rates (depending on experience).

  • Predominantly face-to-face work with some flexibility for remote elements.

  • Supportive team culture with access to full IT systems and resources.

  • Opportunities to contribute to a progressive, innovative Educational Psychology Service.
