Job description

Our Client Tower Hamlets Council, is looking for an experienced Director within Adults Services to join their Service as soon as possible.

As Director you will be part of a strong and committed Directorate Leadership Team and will lead and be supported by a stable senior team.

You will provide strategic leadership on adult safeguarding and all aspects of adult social care and support working across the whole Council to ensure a collaborative and joined up approach that enables the best possible outcomes for our residents.

Leading on improvement and transformation in the service you will continue to progress the service's vision for Adults Social Care and CQC readiness preparation following a successful ADASS peer review in January.

As a key partner of Tower Hamlets Together, you will drive integration between health and social care, collaborating with key stakeholders across the Tower Hamlets Place Partnership (Tower Hamlets Together) and the Northeast London (NEL) Integrated Care Board (ICB) to deliver improved outcomes for local residents.

This is an exciting role for a qualified social worker working at a senior level who understands good practice, has excellent organisation and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with partners.

This role will make a real difference, helping to transform how we deliver together and with our communities, to put Tower Hamlets at the leading edge of strengths-based care and support.

The directorate has passionate and committed staff who are our key strength and engagement is a key part of our culture and way of working. We are committed to the TOWER values (together, open, willing, excellence and respect) and visible leadership is important to sustaining these strengths.

The directorate and its partnerships have achieved many successes and continue to focus on innovation and external facing work to raise the profile of the borough, the Council and its partners.

The workforce is very diverse, and we are aiming to increase the proportion of managers and senior leaders from Black, Asian & Multi-Ethnic backgrounds. Tower Hamlets Together has committed to being anti-racist and this role must demonstrate strong leadership in this regard.

The directorate has strong links across the Council including with Housing, Children's Services and Community Safety. The role operates as part of a 'one Council' approach, heading up an enabled directorate supported by a range of corporate services with accountability to the Chief Executive and Executive Mayor.

Financial sustainability is a key challenge for Adult Social Care and the role manages significant budgets with savings targets built into the Medium-Term Financial Plans. The continued identification of efficiencies and savings opportunities are essential alongside implementation of key programmes of work around housing with care and technology enabled care.

You will enjoy working in our wonderful borough where every day brings something new. Based in the heart of the community in Whitechapel, you'll enjoy being part of the local community and taking part in the diverse range of community events. There are treasures across the whole borough that make working here hugely rewarding and enjoyable.
