Our client, Darlington Borough Council is looking for an advanced practitioner to join their Assessment and Safeguarding.

The role of the Social Workers will be to carry out the function of statutory Children's services and the remit of the Assessment and Safeguarding teams in completing single assessments and section 47 enquiries, supporting children subject to child in need and child protection plans and undertaking Public Law Outline and Public Law Care Proceedings work which will involve supporting Children who are Looked After and developing their permanence plans. Social Workers will be expected to fully consider children's chronologies and histories when completing assessments and developing plans.

They will be expected to champion relational and reflective practice and to work in the spirit of the Strengthening Families approach, using high support and high challenge to empower families to reach their own solutions in order to maintain children with their families wherever it is safe to do so.

This will involve offering all families the opportunity to engage in a family group conference in order they are empowered to develop their own family support and safety plans and also to provide intensive support from the Keeping Families Together team where this is appropriate. The Advanced Practitioner will be expected to support the Team Manager in promoting the Strengthening Families approach within the team and support Social Workers to work with families in a relational and restorative way.

They will also be expected to support the Team Manager in providing reflective case supervision to Social Workers to ensure supervision reflects on the effectiveness of children's plans and uses high support and high challenge to produce positive outcomes for children.
