An experienced Building Surveyor required to provide specialist technical advice on building issues and to implement an effective management service to support the delivery of the Council's vision and priorities. To undertake various construction projects, feasibility studies, surveys and other duties to produce schemes and reports to a professional standard

Support as directed by the Senior Building Surveyor in managing the work of the division ensuring that services provided are continuously monitored and reviewed so that they are of the highest quality and responsive to service needs.

To act in the role of Contract Administrator particularly for small, medium and large construction projects.

Undertake the design, specification and tender of construction works. When acting as Contract Administrator ensure work undertaken by project team members complies with design briefs, current best practice and all appropriate legislation.

Ensure that contracts are prepared in accordance with the Council's Governance Procedures and financial regulations. Ensure that all relevant contract conditions are included within documentation and that tender lists are compiled in accordance with established procedures.

Undertake audits of work to monitor quality of workmanship including pre and post inspections, maintain accurate inspection records. Devise specification for works including determining material, plant, tools and equipment.
