An experienced Building surveyor needed to undertake a full range of Professional Building Surveying duties relating to the repair, maintenance, improvement and extension of the Council's properties and land, ensuring the council fulfils its statutory and contractual repair obligations, and properties are maintained to agreed standards.

To be the lead officer for all Health and Safety and compliance related matters within the Repairs team.

With minimal supervision and working on your own initiative you will undertake building surveys, quality control inspections, design and specification, project management, and cost management in relation to repairs, planned maintenance and improvement projects, liaising with council contractors, residents and other interested parties to ensure the smooth and effective completion of repair and maintenance work to council property.

To lead the day to day management of Health and Safety within the repairs team and ensure compliance with relevant current regulations and best practice. This includes preparing and maintaining risk assessments, asbestos register, PPE registers and all related procedures under review. To make recommendations to reflect best practise and changes in legislation.. You will also undertake post inspections with the contractor, identifying the parameters for inspections, recording outcomes including any credits due and monitoring receipt of these from the contractor.

To deal with insurance and compensation claims and to attend court as required on behalf of the housing service. This will include providing statements to legal representatives and undergoing cross examination in court.

Dealing with Building defects diagnosis and fault finding experience and their remedies, including damp, condensation, subsidence as they apply to traditional and non-traditional buildings.
