BSL Level 3 Support Worker
Lewisham, South East London
A "Outstanding" secondary school for students with hearing, speech and language and communication needs with a residential provision is seeking full time Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP!
This school aims to provide an education of the highest quality, which celebrates everyone's success in a happy, caring, creative environment where all their differences are valued. This school are looking for an individual with a level 3 "British Sign Language" and someone who has the experience in schools and using Makaton. This school is a 3 form entry with challenging children who need your extra support through their school lives. The school have excellent SLT management and other staff that can help you on a day to day basis.
The right candidate must have:
- "Outstanding" Behaviour management
- BSL Level 3
- DBS on the update service
- Previous experience in a school
- Knowledge of primary curriculum
- A good understanding of Special Educational Needs
- Experience in British Sign Language

Your responsibilities:
- Following schools behaviour policies
- Insuring safeguarding procedures are being followed at all times
- Support fellow staff at all times
- Working one-to-one with children
- Helping them with their learning and signing to help them
- Using Makaton
- Liaising with the relevant class teacher and SENCO when required
- To support children across all areas of learning with a variety of needs while also allowing them independence
Applicants must have excellent sign language skills (minimum qualification BSL Level 3) and experience of working with deaf and/or language impaired children.
