Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School
Location: Lambeth, South London
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £100-£115 per day
Contract: Full-time | Term-Time Only
A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Lambeth is looking to appoint a confident and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support students with challenging behaviour and social-emotional needs. This is a key role aimed at helping pupils stay engaged in education and make positive progress both academically and personally.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural and emotional difficulties
De-escalate incidents using restorative approaches and positive behaviour strategies
Build strong, consistent relationships that promote trust and personal growth
Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and class teachers to track and support student progress
Help implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and risk assessments
Support classroom engagement and provide in-class or out-of-class interventions
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour (school, PRU, youth work or similar)
Calm, patient, and firm with excellent interpersonal skills
Confident using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement
DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
Background in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work or SEN is highly desirable
