Attendance Officer (Maternity Cover)
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm
Rate: £18-£20 per hour
Location: Tower Hamlets
Interviews: Taking place within the first 2 weeks of the summer holidays
Remedy Education is recruiting a highly experienced Attendance Officer (Maternity Cover) - September Start for a large, well-established secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is a full-time, long-term maternity cover role beginning in September, ideal for someone with strong experience in school attendance systems, safeguarding, and data-led interventions.
As the Attendance Officer (Maternity Cover) - September Start, you will play a vital role in improving student attendance, promoting engagement, and removing barriers to learning. You must be confident using Arbor, MyConcern, and DFL, as these systems are integral to the school's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and record daily attendance using Arbor, ensuring all student data is accurate and compliant
- Analyse attendance trends, flagging concerns early and producing weekly and termly reports for SLT
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding absence, lateness, and attendance expectations
- Implement targeted interventions to support students with persistent or unexplained absences
- Use MyConcern and DFL systems to monitor safeguarding flags and provide holistic student support
- Liaise with external agencies where needed to support at-risk students and implement EWO referrals
- Assist in the development and enforcement of the school's attendance policy and procedures
Requirements:
- Substantial experience as an Attendance Officer or in a similar school-based administrative role
- Confident user of Arbor, MyConcern, and DFL
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent data handling and reporting skills
- Clear understanding of safeguarding protocols and attendance legislation
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
- A calm, compassionate approach to supporting pupils and families
