Job description

About Achieving for Children (AfC)
They are an award-winning social enterprise owned by three local authorities (Kingston, Richmond and Windsor & Maidenhead), with a reputation as one of the leading children's services providers in the country.

They support over 30,000 children, young people and their families through our social care, health, education, early help and business services. By recognising and championing strengths we can make a real difference. It's a genuine team effort.

In Kingston and Richmond they provide services through a cluster delivery model which places us in the heart of our communities and enables closer working with partner agencies. Signs of Safety is our model of practice and through this we offer group supervision and case reflections. We need workers whose focus is not only on safeguarding but enabling a family to meet their children's needs within their own family and friends network through identifying the gaps and strengthening support.

Safeguarding Team
The role is in the child in need and child protection team who undertake work with families requiring a longer term service.

They undertake analytical child and family assessments to inform our work with families. They then use this knowledge to devise plans and make interventions to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children and young people. They coordinate multi agency networks supporting children in need, children subject to child protection plans and looked after children. If risks increase, we seek legal advice and initiate PLO or public law care proceedings.

You will be supported by your line manager but also from being able to seek peer support through group supervision and consultations with our team's systemic family therapist. Caseloads are low when comparing to other London Boroughs which means you have time to make a difference.

What you will bring:
You will be an experienced social worker who is confident and has a proven track record in working within a children's social care environment. You will be experienced in safeguarding practices and assessing risk when working with children and families. A highly skilled practitioner in report writing, timely recording, quickly developing strong working relationships and in undertaking direct work with children and their families which will inform your assessment and analysis of need. You will use a variety of strategies to analyse case histories to inform you about a child's life and using this information to inform supervision and decisions about next steps. You will have a considerable amount of skill in direct work with children and use a variety of methods to help them tell their story. Our wish is to have workers who are proud of their work and want to do their very best for children and families and who are committed to the role giving it 100%.

This role is based in Twickenham. If you are interested in this role please send your updated CV in the first instance.
