1-1 SEN Teaching Assistants

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week - Term time only

Salary Scale: Varied depending on level of experience/ qualification

Contract: Temporary to Permanent - 12 week probationary period

Location: East London

Remedy Education are currently recruiting for a 1-1 Teaching Assistant for a school based in East London The school is a lovely Primary mainstream primary school however they require a 1-1 Teaching assistant to work with a student with complex needs based in KS2. They are looking to appoint an individual who can provide support to young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex behaviours.

  • Speech, Language & Communication Difficulties.
  • Specific Learning Difficulties.
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties.
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties.

The role includes providing 1-1 support in lessons and supporting teachers to deliver individual learning programmes. You will be working in teams of Teaching Assistants, Teachers and other professionals who will support and mentor you.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate your desire to work with young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) & Special Educational Needs (SEN) and associated difficulties or come from a similar type of background. The successful person will be working across the curriculum as a teaching assistant so will need to be able to manage with a constantly changing and evolving work load.

For those starting out in education you will receive valuable in class experience by supporting the teacher in setting up classrooms, assisting pupils with their work and engaging in extracurricular activities such as after school tuition, alongside this there is a fantastic training programme in place to gain qualifications within this field. For those who have worked within Education previously and are looking for the next step, this school is a Teacher Training Academy and can help you with this path.

Requirements

  • Experience in working with children. This may include caring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, community work or volunteering in schools, we are also happy to consider applicants who have personal experience of working with individual with additional needs for example family members.
  • Able to adapt to an ever-changing work load.
  • Attending review meetings.
  • Target setting with teaching and other support staff.
