Job description

Our client, West Sussex County Council is looking for a Head of Commissioning candidate to join their team.

As a Head of Commissioning, concentrating on Reablement and Community Equipment, you will be accountable for leading and managing a countywide, customer focused function, meeting the agreed strategic outcomes and priorities for this service, and meeting political, statutory, performance and financial measures through the effective management of resources. This will entail determining and implementing the long-term strategy, managing the appropriate service delivery options and the effective implementation of services / programmes / policies.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that the commissioning strategy and intentions for Adults and Health is based on a broad and deep understanding of current and future needs and demand, is aligned with the County Council priorities, and is built around the agenda for closer partnership working, particularly with health. We are looking for someone to work closely with the senior leadership team in Adults and Health to commission, develop, and grow the support that the service needs to ensure residents feel safe and secure, and are healthy and well.

Job Description & Person Specification

Reporting to the Assistant Director Commissioning, you will be focusing on ensuring the development and delivery of commissioning intentions to provide high quality, proportionate and appropriate services based on the principle of "home first". You will be accountable for the identification, development and delivery of evidence-based commissioning responses relating to commissioning of new services, improvement or evolution of services, and decommissioning of services. Having a broad understanding of strategic commissioning models, concepts and principles gained through extensive business exposure in a diverse range of organisations or services is essential.
