Job description

Remedy Education is working with a good primary school based in Lambeth that are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work in a reception year group with a pupil who has a statement for ASD.

The headteacher and deputy headteacher of this high achieving school in the heart of vibrant School in Lambeth are keen to appoint a bright, ambitious Teaching Assistant to work one to one with a pupil in Reception. The pupil has an Educational Healthcare Plan and has a diagnosis of ASD. The pupil requires short-burst activity support, learning support in Literacy and Numeracy as well as support during play time. As a Teaching Assistant you will require a Team Teach qualification to work with this pupil. The behaviour of the pupil is mild to moderate with that the school are seeking a restraint trained teaching assistant.

The role will involve

  • Supporting a pupil with ASD in Reception
  • Work alongside the lower Early Years Foundation Stage team to plan and prepare engaging, fun sessions for small groups of learners that need additional support
  • Firm but fair behaviour management skills

The teaching assistant roles are full time, 5 days week and will be due to start ASAP to continue for the full academic year.

you must;

  • Have previous experience working in a primary school setting
  • Be a team player - this role requires someone who works well with teachers, pupils and parents
  • Demonstrate commitment, dedication and resilience in your previous childcare work
  • have an ability to manage sometimes challenging behaviour
  • Ideally you will be local to Lambeth
