Team Manager, Child Exploitation, Southend, £41,846 - £48,508 pa

This is a duel post involving team management responsibility for a small number of Social Workers. The other side of the role is acting as the operational lead for Child Exploitation within the Children's Services workforce and undertaking the Child Exploitation work plan.

This is a fixed term maternity cover contract to start in March 2019 until 31st December 2019

Main responsibilities include:

  • Provide a professional service within the Social Work Teams by being responsible for the efficient and cost-effective provision of a needs-led service to children, young people and their families.
  • Support children identified as being most at risk of criminal or sexual exploitation.
  • Work with all young people identified as being at risk of CSE in the council including offering information and advice to other services, working within the early help framework, undertaking section 47 investigations and managing child protection plans.
  • Work closely with other providers within the borough, including statutory social care, Police, Safeguarding Children Board, schools and other teams within Youth and Family Support Services (YFSS), amongst others, to prevent the sexual exploitation of children.
  • Be the operational lead for child exploitation for the local authority and undertake training in child exploitation across the partnership

Essential requirements:

  • A social work qualification (degree in social work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent recognised social work qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • Strong knowledge of child exploitation and related issues.
  • Previous experience of managing a small team of Social Workers with complex cases.
  • Car driver/owner essential
