Job Title: British Sign Language (BSL) Teacher

Location: Primary School based in Northwest London

Type: Part Time - 2 days per week

Start Date: ASAP

Role Overview:

As a BSL Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and effective BSL instruction to students within this Primary School. Working collaboratively with a dedicated team of educators and support staff, you will provide tailored learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of our students and facilitate their communication skills development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging BSL lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students.
  • Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies to support students' language acquisition and communication skills.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the specific needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and track individual learning goals.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students' holistic development and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Qualified BSL Teacher with relevant teaching qualifications and experience.
  • Proficient in British Sign Language (BSL) with the ability to communicate effectively in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of deaf culture, communication methods, and best practices in deaf education.
  • Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and promoting equality of opportunity for all students.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
