Sessional Speech and Language Therapist - EOTAS Provision (Haringey)
📍 Location:
London Borough of Haringey
Community-based, primarily working in homes, community settings, or remotely with children and young people in receipt of EOTAS packages.
🕒 Contract Type:
Sessional / Freelance / Self-Employed Contract
Flexible working based on referrals and caseload
💷 Rate:
Competitive hourly/sessional rate (dependent on experience)
Includes time for travel and report writing, subject to agreement
🧩 Role Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, child-centred sessional Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people in the London Borough of Haringey who are receiving EOTAS (Education Other Than At School) packages.
Working on a freelance basis, you will assess, plan, and deliver targeted speech and language therapy for children with a range of complex needs - including autism, social emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and developmental speech/language difficulties - outside of traditional school settings. You will work collaboratively with parents, tutors, and professionals to support the child's communication needs holistically.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
🔍 Assessment & Planning:
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
- Produce high-quality assessment and progress reports in line with EHCP requirements
- Develop SMART therapy goals and integrate them into the wider EOTAS provision
🛠️ Intervention Delivery:
- Deliver direct therapy (1:1 or small group) either in-home, community settings, or remotely
- Tailor interventions to individual needs using evidence-based approaches
- Support the use of AAC, visual supports, Makaton, or PECS where appropriate
🤝 Multi-Agency Collaboration:
- Liaise with Haringey EOTAS case officers, parents/carers, tutors, and other professionals
- Contribute to EHCP annual reviews and planning meetings as needed
- Provide training and guidance to families and other stakeholders to embed communication strategies
📝 Documentation:
- Maintain accurate, confidential therapy records in line with HCPC, RCSLT, and GDPR guidelines
- Contribute to tribunal reports and professional recommendations when required
✅ Essential Criteria:
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- RCSLT membership (or eligibility)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Proven experience working with children and young people with a range of needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Speech sound disorders
- SEMH needs
- Language delay/disorder
- Confident working independently and managing a flexible caseload
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
🌟 Desirable:
- Experience delivering SALT within EOTAS or alternative provision
- Familiarity with EHCP processes and legal/statutory requirements
- Training in trauma-informed practice, SCERTS, TEACCH, or similar
- Knowledge of services and community resources in Haringey or North London
