Job description

This role is;

  1. To provide overall leadership and management and be accountable for the performance and quality of work in a service of up to 7 social work teams.
  2. Lead and be accountable for initiatives that ensure the service meets its strategic aim to develop effective interventions to enable more children to be cared for safely within their own families.
  3. Lead and be accountable for the effective operation of the service, including leading teams through transformation, instilling a clear sense of direction, priority and pace across the service, ensuring clarity of goals at a service, team and individual level, conveying how they support the fundamental purpose of the council and energising staff towards their achievement.

This Local Authority is a diverse borough with a young and vibrant population. There are over 86,000 children and young people in the borough and we want each of them to have the same life chances as young people in other parts of London.

The Children and Young People's Services are currently undertaking an exciting transformation programme to create integrated Early Help and Safeguarding services for our children, young people and families.

Their vision is to get it right the first time for all. We are aligning our services to improve accessibility for residents and to strengthen partnerships between statutory, specialist, early help and universal services.

They are the first London borough to offer a fully integrated 0-19 health and social care service and have in-house Health Visitors and School Nurses.

If successful, you will have unrivalled learning and development opportunities, retention incentives, and quality management and supervision. Dynamic, innovative, committed and passionate, you will bring comprehensive knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with vulnerable children and families.
