**Communication Support Worker-British Sign Language
**BSL Level 3 Qualification or above

Remedy Education are working with a client in Lewisham who are seeking a communication support worker to support learners with a hearing impairment in a mainstream school setting. You will be required to interpret spoken English into British Sign Language and adapt learning materials to the individuals needs.

Under the guidance and supervision of a qualified teacher, you will be responsible for supporting 3 pupils, which could involve working on a 1:1 basis, 1:3 basis or whole classroom support, ensuring individuals are able to meet all the required objectives detailed within their Education, Health and care plan. You will be competent in utilising British sign Language to provide access to learning and support each pupil, dependant on their communication and learning needs.

Your responsibilities will include but not restricted to:

* Working with the Teacher and SENCO to determine a suitable learning environment and preparing activities that adhere to the learning needs of the pupils

* Provide encouragement to the pupils to develop appropriate independence when working, socialising and playing and employing strategies that recognises and rewards achievement of self-reliance

* Undertake marking/annotation of individuals work and precisely record achievement/progress as agreed with the teacher and SENCO.

To be successful for this position, you must hold a British Sign Language Level 3 or above and have experience of working with children with Special Educational needs and approaches to support emotional and academic well-being.
