SEN Teaching Assistant | Autism Unit | South East London | Primary
Are you an SEN Teaching Assistant with experience working with children aged between 3-7 with Autism?
Our client primary school in South East London is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching assistant to start in September within their specialism Autism Unit. This role is full time.

The successful applicant will be working in a medium-sized primary school with a large and well-resourced SEN provision. They have a small number of statemented pupils who will require 1:1 support in the attached unit from early years children to Year 2 children. There are currently 7 children in the unit.
Applicants should be exceptional communicators and strong team-players, able to fit in well with the supportive staff-team at the school. We are looking for a pro-active and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant who can bring to the post lots of ideas and a passion for working with SEN children. Previous experience working with autism is essential for this role, ideally within a primary school environment with children aged 4-7.
Alternatively, experienced SEN Teaching Assistants should have NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification and have experience delivering specialist interventions with autistic children or learners with speech & language difficulties.
Previous training in alternative communication techniques such as PECS or Makaton would be advantageous to the role but not essential. Also applicants with Team Teach experience would also be an advantage to the role.
