Job description
Secondary School based in Lewisham is currently recruiting for a LSA on a fixed term contract starting September 2022 until July 2023, with the high possibility of extension. This facility is instrumental in supporting pupils with a diagnosis of ASD who may require support in addition to that which is available in a mainstream setting, and pupils who are experiencing Social and Communication Difficulties. This is a very important role within the school as it provides vital social and learning experiences for our pupils to enable them to successfully integrate into mainstream. The successful candidate will be able to enjoy working in this environment and liaise with a range of staff. The role sits within the school Learning Support and is key to aiding the progress of identified pupils. Additional support and training may be provided by the school upon appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting students on in a small classroom setting or on a 1:1 basis
- Have an awareness of student needs and the strategies to support individuals to successfully engage in learning
- Supervise and support students in the learning environment including more in-depth support for those with complex needs, promoting independence, inclusion and equality for all students
We look for:
- Ideally previous experience working with ASD/ and nonverbal (preferred but not essential)
- A calm, confident demeanour with a proactive attitude
- A clear, enhanced DBS on the update service (or the means to apply for a new one)
