An outstanding SEN school in Southwark in South East London, is seeking to appoint a Secondary SEN teacher to start ASAP on a 1 year contract. The school is Outstanding (OfSTED) and cares deeply for the Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare of Pupils (Outstanding) & has Outstanding Effectiveness of leadership and assessment too.

The class itself consists of 6/7 pupils (Mixed Year KS3 and KS4), In class you will have the support of outstanding, friendly, and hardworking TAs (x2) full-time in class. Classes are well-resourced and staff encouraged to approach SLT about any resources or ideas they have to help improve the learning environment and the well-being of pupils. OfSTED said, SLT "does not shy away from taking risks such as introducing new teaching approaches that are backed up by research they are meticulous in checking that these innovations provide a positive experience for pupils and result in improved outcomes related to academic or personal development".

The appointed SEN Teacher will be therefore joining an outstanding team in a well-organised school. All teaching and support staff are trained in Makaton and PECS symbols are also used creatively to develop communication; experience in these areas is therefore essential. However, the school offers an extensive training and development programme for its staff. All staff participate in on-going training in Makaton, PECS, Team-Teach, TEACCH and First Aid. The school regularly books external organisations to lead training in Autism and Safeguarding. They also offer training led by their on-site Multi-Disciplinary Team.
