SEMH Teacher - Romford

Location: Romford, East London
Start Date: January 2026
Pay: £220 - £250 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to go permanent)

We're looking for a committed and compassionate SEMH Teacher to join a fantastic SEN school in Romford this January. You'll be teaching a small class of 10 formal learners in Years 9-11, all working between Entry Level 2 and Level 1.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a teacher who enjoys building relationships, supporting emotional development, and helping young people re-engage with learning in a calm, structured environment.


About the Class

  • Learners: Year 9-11 students

  • Academic Levels: Entry 2 to Level 1

  • Class Size: 10 pupils

  • Needs: SEMH and Autism

  • Behaviour: No physical behaviours observed; some students display typical adolescent and SEMH-related behaviours that require a calm, consistent approach


The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to learners working at Entry 2-Level 1

  • Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment

  • Promote positive relationships and emotional wellbeing

  • Work closely with a dedicated team of TAs, mentors, and pastoral staff

  • Support students in building confidence, self-regulation, and academic progress


The Ideal Candidate

  • QTS/QTLS with experience teaching KS3-KS4

  • Confident working with learners with SEMH and Autism

  • Calm, patient, and skilled in building trust and rapport

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and differentiated teaching

  • A team player who genuinely cares about making a difference
