Job description

We are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to work in a lovely Special Needs School in Lambeth. The school has been awarded an 'outstanding' rating by Ofsted for its achievements and overall practice. It has successfully built a strong team of creative, innovative and dedicated staff, who have successfully helped students, aged 0-18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), develop independence.

Whilst experience working with Autism is preferred, the school values character and resilience highly, as it is key they demonstrate the right attitude to SEN and uphold schools aims and values. The main aim of the school is to encourage independent learning and life skills and you will be expected to devise creative lessons and activities to enforce these aims.

As a Primary Special Needs Teacher you will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative lessons and activities for a small class of Autistic needs
  • Educate yourself on each individual students Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Build a strong rapport with your pupils
  • Work closely with the school staff team, helping to reinforce schools values
  • Keep yourself up to date with changes in education that may affect your pupils
  • Occasionally carry out personal care whilst you are teaching your pupils to become more independent

You will need the following, to be considered to this role:

  • A minimum of one years experience as a Primary Teacher
  • Be a compassionate educator, with strong behaviour management skills
  • Experience working with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs
  • A DBS on the update service, or be prepared to apply for a new one
