1:1 Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Lewisham, South East London
  • Start date: September 2022
  • Salary: £75 - £85 per day
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:45pm


Job Specification

We are looking for a qualified and highly skilled SEN teaching assistant for a 1:1 job within a two-form entry Primary School in Lewisham.

You will be working 1:1 with a child with autism. The child can be hyperactive and distracted, so all instructions need to be kept specific and brief. They are usually calm but can become frustrated if something irritates them.

The successful candidate will be somebody who possesses the following qualities/skills & experience:

  • Patient
  • Be a calming influence
  • Adaptable
  • Empathy
  • Excellent behaviour management
  • Hold a teaching assistant qualification (Example: 'Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools')
  • Have at least 3 months working 1:1 with a child with autism

Requirements:

  • Has a DBS on the update service or willing to apply for a new one
  • School based experience within the last 3 years
  • Experience of working with children
  • Has relevant SEND experience
