Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join a school in the London Borough of Lambeth, South West London. Located in Lambeth, South West London the school is close to the underground train station. There are good local bus services operating frequently. It is an ideal commute for candidates from across the capital.

The successful candidate will be experienced In supporting young people with a variety of SEN within a school setting. You will be supporting pupils in both classroom and one-to-one settings, with needs such as Autism, Speech & Language and SEMH. Improving literacy and numeracy through interventions is also a key responsibility.

It is very important that you have strong behaviour management skills and are able to think on the spot and use your own initiative should a challenging situation arise.

About the candidate:

  • Level 3 teaching qualification or a recent graduate
  • Minimum of 3-6 months experience as a Teaching/Support Assistant or similar
  • Experience working with SEN such as Autism, Learning Disabilities or SEMH (desirable)
  • Passion and enthusiasm for supporting children and young people
  • Able to manage challenging behaviour
  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through us
