Job description

Our client, Oxfordshire County Council is looking for a Project Manager to join their Fostering team.

This is a brief overview of the key objectives of the job including the context within the team/department.

The post holder will successfully lead and deliver complex service and business improvements in the fostering service. The post holder will work closely with the Fostering Service Manager on their strategy to increase recruitment of foster carers and retain our existing cohort of carers.

The Project Manager will manage and contribute to the action plan to secure the overall aims of the project; reporting regularly to the Head of Corporate Parenting and the Placement Sufficiency Board.

The keys skills and knowledge include project and programme management, facilitation, data analysis, business and budgetary management, effective stakeholder and communication management.

Responsibilites:

  1. To lead and deliver the action plan to secure identified outcomes.
  2. Produce high quality documentation to ensure key decisions are documented and communicated.
  3. Be accountable for the successful development and management of project to ensure that it is delivered using recognised project management standards including leading on the delivery of all stakeholder engagement and communications activities.
  4. Define and set-up the project organisation structure and governance, assembling team members with agreement of appropriate line managers. Leading/chairing regular core project meetings establishing also robust monitoring and escalation arrangements.
  5. Be accountable for project delivery (in terms of output, quality, and financials) with the ability also to hold others successfully accountable for delivery including professionally challenging both senior managerial and operational leads.
  6. Manage own workload and resources to ensure successful service delivery
  7. Maintain excellent, effective working relationships with stakeholders, key strategic partners, senior council directors, politicians, and operational teams.
  8. Promote a strong customer service focus within the Service and where possible take account of customer requirements, including responding to customers in ways that are clear and jargon free
  9. Remain contemporary with legislation and best practice across all areas of the Directorate and ensure that relevant initiatives are adopted to develop the effectiveness of the service

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
