Job description

📚 Outreach Tutors - Core Subjects (Maths & English)

📍 Location: Dagenham & surrounding areas
🕐 Contract: Flexible / Part-Time
💷 Pay: £25-£40 per hour (dependent on experience and qualification)

Are you a passionate and adaptable educator looking to make a real difference outside the traditional classroom?

We are seeking experienced and compassionate Outreach Tutors to deliver 1:1 or small group tuition for students in Dagenham who are currently unable to attend mainstream school due to medical needs, special circumstances, or lack of a suitable school place.

This is a vital and rewarding role helping young people stay on track with their education and prepare for a successful return to full-time schooling.

🔍 About the Role:

You will be working with pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4, primarily focusing on English and Maths (with opportunities to support Science and Life Skills in future). Tuition is provided during school hours (9am-3pm) either:

  • In-person at community venues, libraries, or school campuses

  • Or online, with in-person check-ins coordinated by the service

This is a short-term, targeted intervention - not a long-term alternative to school - and your work will support pupils' academic and behavioural readiness to transition back into full-time education.

✅ We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS) or experienced Tutors with strong subject knowledge

  • Confidence working 1:1 or with small groups of students with a range of needs

  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills

  • Experience supporting students with SEND, anxiety, school refusal, or medical conditions

  • Ability to work flexibly and independently

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

🌟 Why Join Us?

  • Make a meaningful impact in a flexible and supportive setting

  • Competitive hourly rates and regular hours during the school day

  • Work with a dedicated and expanding local education service

  • Be part of a vital programme helping young people re-engage with learning
