We are seeking a patient, experienced, and compassionate Outreach Teacher to work with a bright Year 9 student who has been temporarily suspended from school. The student is autistic and presents with some challenges around emotional regulation, including occasional biting behavior. Despite these challenges, he is intelligent, curious, and capable of engaging well with the right support in place.

This is a vital role to support the student's continued learning and development during this period away from school. The teaching will take place in the student's home, with the support of the family and relevant professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured, engaging lessons tailored to the student's learning needs and interests

  • Foster a positive and trusting relationship to support emotional regulation and learning readiness

  • Work closely with the family and any external professionals to maintain consistency and a calm learning environment

  • Track progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with students with autism and additional needs

  • Understanding of emotional and behavioral regulation strategies

  • Ability to remain calm, consistent, and empathetic in challenging situations

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making a meaningful difference outside of a traditional classroom environment.
