Job description

Our client, Newcastle City Council is looking for a Social Worker to join their Long term team.

As a Social Worker within the Long-Term Service, you will manage a caseload of children subject to Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans and children where Care Proceedings are ongoing; we are looking for experienced and committed Social Workers who can deliver innovative practice to families who need support. Newcastle has secured DfE funding and have partnered with Leeds City Council's Children's Social Care to roll out a Family Valued approach to working with children and families; this also includes the development of a Family Group Conference Service to promote family led plans to ensure the safety and needs of children in Newcastle are met. Relationships are at the heart of Social Work in Newcastle; we are committed to working in partnership with families to achieve best outcomes and we pride ourselves on innovative practice. In December 2021 Newcastle Children's Services underwent a full inspection by Ofsted, the services was rated in Good in all domains and received an overall judgement of Good. Within your role you will be managed by a Team Manager who will provide the support and guidance needed in both formal and informal supervision as well as having supportive team members and the benefit of having a dedicated Team Co-Ordinator to support you to fulfil your role . You will also be eligible to attend a range of training opportunities. You will take part in Group Reflection to support the understanding of complex cases and receive monthly one to one supervision with your Team Manager. During the COVID19 pandemic; we have had to adapt to new ways of working this includes a mixture of home working and working within the office. You will be provided with the equipment, technology and resources to enable you to work remotely when needed. There is free parking when you do need to attend the office. Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
