Job description

Our client, Medway Council, are looking for a Senior Practitioner to join their Childrens Social work Safeguarding team.

The main purpose of the job is:

To manage complex caseloads and deliver high quality casework to children and families that comply with legislation, guidance and local policies and procedures, and achieve positive outcomes.

To offer expert opinion and support to colleagues on aspects of casework.

To maintain a focus on good practice and drive forward continuing improvement.

To be responsible and accountable for the practice of student social workers on placement, providing expert guidance, assessing practice in accordance with University guidance, and actively participating in the Student's Unit.

KEY CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITIES

To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives/targets.

To participate in one to one Performance Development Reviews and contribute to the identification of own and team development needs.

To actively promote the Council's Fair Access, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.

To ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, the Council's Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.

To fully understand and be aware of the commitment to Section 17 of the duty of Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to prevent crime and disorder.

KEY SERVICE RELATED ACCOUNTABILITIES

To demonstrate and model a high standard of practice that reflects a value based approach to work with children and families and is child-centred.

To actively encourage social worker colleagues to deliver a service in line with service objectives, and provide professional knowledge and advice.

To chair meetings, and represent the service as required on panels and working groups.

You will need to be:

HCPC registered
