Male LSA required for KS3 - LSA role in Greenwich, South East London

A large, forward thinking SEN school in the Greenwich area are looking for a strong Male Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school is easily accessible via public transport and draws from a mixed catchment area. The school boasts good behaviour and high standards throughout.

This role will be to support in a KS3 ASD Class. You will work to support the students with their individual education plan, helping them to remain focused and on-task. You will help the child to complete tasks in line with learning and developmental goals as set out for the class by the teacher, adapting the activity to ensure that the child is able to complete and achieve it. You will build a good relationship with the pupil, using this as a basis to effectively manage the pupil's behaviour by being positive and encouraging. In addition to academic and behavioural support, you will also support the child in interacting in group situations, and the wider class.

The right person for this job role will be supportive and enthusiastic in nature, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good rapport with the pupil, wider class, and staff. This will be imperative to working effectively with the pupil and effectively manage the pupil's behaviour. You will draw from your previous experience to support the child in all aspects, creating a positive learning environment where the pupil feels safe and secure.

This position is 35 hours per week over 5 days , to start Monday 7th June, and is on an ongoing basis. The job will then be reviewed. The school may advertise the position as permanent, or potentially extend the contract on a long-term, temporary basis.

An excellent understanding of the National Curriculum

The ability to work closely with other staff members, including sharing your own ideas
The ability to work on your own initiative
A friendly and approachable manner - the ability to build rapport quickly with staff and pupils
The ability to identify where and how to encourage individual pupils to achieve their potential - supporting them in building confidence
The willingness to undertake any training required
