This is the lead role for Information Governance in the organisation, raising awareness and providing expert advice, training and support to our Members, Senior Officers and colleagues. As the Information Governance Manager you will develop, plan and monitor the Council's Information Governance model, ensuring high quality information governance management practice across the organisation. You will ensure that we are compliant with all current and future information related legislation and regulation. You will continuously work with officers and Members to develop the Council's Information Governance awareness and maturity and support the improvement of Information Governance practice in the Council. You will be responsible for leading, managing and improving the methods and practices we use as a Council to manage our Information and IT Security and records management of our data and information. In this role, you will be the Council's statutory Data Protection Officer under Article 37/39 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK Data Protection Act 2018. You will also be the Senior Responsible Officer for the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. You will also be the single point of contact for the Surveillance Camera Commissioner and the associated code of practice. Developing our Open Data approach, you will support the council in enabling and simplifying citizen access to Council information. You will lead and support a small team of Information Governance professionals. This role is 37 hours per week but we operate an agile working policy, allowing you to manage your own diary and work flexibly, including off-site/remote working.
