Head of Design Technology

As Head of Design Technology, you will be line managing the department and playing a key role in maximising the performance of the curriculum, working closely with the Senior Leadership team.


In order to be a full-time Head of DT teacher, you will need to have qualified teacher status.

You will also need to have recent experience within a classroom setting in the last five years and be up-to-date with recent curriculum changes. You will need to be a creative and positive teacher who is able to embrace new surroundings and situations, whilst always demonstrating a professional manor. You will have strong classroom management skills with the ability to adapt to unfamiliar plans and timetables. It is imperative that you have good communication skills, as this is crucial when speaking to other members of staff and people in the school.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Must have UK QTS or be in the process of gaining
  • Strong academics across the board - Degree, A Levels and GCSEs
  • Must be meeting the 8 Teaching Standards to a 'Good or Outstanding' level
  • You must be able to work as part of a large team of Design Technology (DT) Teachers
  • Must be willing to listen to feedback
  • To be accountable for planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of KS3/KS4/KS5.
  • To teach to a very high standard to both KS3-KS5 where required.
  • To be accountable for high standards of learning, student progress, improved attainment and support and challenge students.
  • To comply with the range of duties and responsibilities of teachers as set out in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions document.
