As a Physics teaching assistant you would be mainly working with Physics students at GCSE and A-level. It is essential to hold a degree in Physics and you must have a strong knowledge of the national curriculum in Physics. Any additional knowledge of other sciences is desirable as it would enable you to work across the schools Science department as would a sound understanding of Mathematics.

Within the Teaching Assistant role you would be supporting the class teacher over an array of topics, helping students grasp theories and gain a better understanding of learning objectives in science. Throughout your time at the school you will find yourself work within the classroom and in smaller groups, aiding students who may need additional support in certain areas of science topics.
