Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • To be oversee the integrated assessments and Education, Health & Care (EHC) Plans for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, across the age range 0-25
  • To ensure that the Council fulfils its statutory responsibilities as a Local Authority as they relate to the duties of the post holder
  • To lead and represent the LA in complex and sensitive issues relating to mediation and appeals and provide line management to the EHC Officer responsible for low level appeals to the SEN & Disability Tribunal, ensuring that wherever possible and appropriate appeals are resolved, or successfully opposed. Where appeals proceed to prepare detailed responses within external legal deadlines and thereafter represent the LA, leading a Team of experts in providing the LA case at legal Tribunal hearings
  • To Chair a range of senior level Panels including the EHC Panel, and Phase transfer panels and act as the main decision maker about pupil placement

What you need:

  • QSW Status - including qualification, Social Work England registration and completed ASYE
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience
  • Right to work in the UK
