Job description

Remedy Recruitment Group are currently seeking an experienced Community Infrastructure Coordinator to work for Barnet Council on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose

"The Local Authority has a large and diverse portfolio of Capital Projects and needs high calibre project and programme management to help shape and deliver plans to deliver key infrastructure to support the significant growth across the borough (c.£500m in total).

This role was created in 2021 as a coordinating role within the Capital Delivery team to lead the implementation and support of the processes for Barnet Council's Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) reforms, and the wider borough CIL reform vision. The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is collected from the new, eligible developments in the borough, and a portion of this, NCIL, provides funding for eligible community projects that support the regeneration of the borough. The funds are made available through the Borough's Area Committees and spent in consultation with the local community.

The Borough's CIL charging schedule and the processes around the governance of Borough (strategic) CIL are being reformed in parallel, and the role holder will work closely with Capital Delivery team colleagues to implement these in addition to a focus on NCIL. In addition, the role holder will participate in the wider Capital Delivery portfolio. The role is a key contact in the end-to-end delivery of Neighbourhood CIL initiatives including working across departments and with members to identify and support in the selection of projects to be taken forward.

The role will keep track of available and allocated budgets for area committees as well as coordinating, tracking and reporting on progress of initiatives selected to be taken forward. This will be a diverse role as the role will be required to take responsibility for the direct management of a proportion of the schemes to be taken forward as well as coordinating activities that are to be delivered by other departments and local groups (for example administrating the provision of grants to a community group)."
