Autism and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Lewisham, South East London

September 2022 start

A well-established Primary School based in Lewisham are looking for a Learning support assistant to work with a child in Year 1 with Autism. This role will also involve monitoring the child's behaviour and reacting to challenging situations. This primary school is rate 'Outstanding' by OFSTED and is a 2 form entry. The Primary School is also able to offer free parking on site for any drivers. The overall behaviour of the School is good and pupils are polite and have respect for staff members. The Headteacher encourages a friendly and supportive working environment, training is always available for staff members.

The role will include supporting an Autistic child in year 1 who also faces behavioural difficulties, both in and outside of the classroom. To be considered for this role you will need to have strong behaviour management skills and be able to intercept before a situation escalates. The role will include being someone to listen, help and calm down certain students. The successful candidate will need experience working closely with children for 3 months or more.

This role will be a full time position, starting September 2022 and will be ongoing long term.

This Primary School is looking to interview in the next few weeks, and start someone September 2022. The successful candidate will need to be available almost immediately as the interview will be a trial day, followed by an immediate start if successful.
