Job description

Our Client Wrexham Council, is looking for an Experienced Assistant Team Manager to join their Single Point of Access Team within their Children's Services.

The children's Single Point of Access Team acts as the first point of contact for information, advice and assistance to support children and families and to investigate safeguarding concerns. SPOA is a multi-agency team bringing together key professionals from different agencies to facilitate early information sharing that inform interventions to safeguard children. The Single Point of Access Team is a fast paced team, we receive over 1500 contacts per month and the successful applicant will be able to make decisions quickly and efficiently, and will have a broad knowledge and experience to inform this decision making process.

The applicant will be required to have experience in children's social work including experience in safeguarding children. The applicant will be able to work under pressure to supervise and mentor social workers and have the ability to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently. The applicant will be honest, reliable, punctual and be able to work as part of a team and independently.

The role will consist of reading referrals received by the local authority and making decisions on what action needs to be taken, guiding and advising social workers, regular review of assessments adding management oversight and formal supervision of social workers. You would also be required to arrange and attend Strategy and other meetings and liaise with partner agencies.

You must have a good understanding of the threshold for Care and Support and Child Protection and knowledge of prevention services in the Wrexham area.

The worker will be required to attend the office 3 days a week and will work for home 2 days a week.

Requirements of this Social Worker job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registered.
