Job Responsibilities: The council's Housing Services are high profile and vital to maintaining and enhancing the city council's reputation. To ensure that high standards of quality are achieved on the Capital Works Major Works schemes. Actively working within a team managing Major Works Projects by advising on the specification for works, and preparing and administering Scheme Quality Plans to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract. Responsibilities: To be the person responsible for the quality of works on schemes delivered by the Capital Works Team.

* Provide professional reports and information in relation to Major Works progress, quality and handover.

* Comply with agreed responsibilities detailed within the Scheme Quality Plans.

* Positively respond to technical and quality matters identified by residents and other stakeholders in both the delivery of new schemes and on completed schemes during the Rectification Period including the certification of Making Good and/or any latent defects.

* Act on behalf of the Principal Surveyor and/or nominated Contract Administrator by undertaking audits of the works to ensure that each project is defect free, meets the required quality standards, complies with the specification and contributes to an increase in Customer Satisfaction.

* Ensure that Scheme Quality Plans are prepared and administered in accordance with the stated standards and testing regimes.

* Work with the Senior Construction Manager in matters of compliance with British Standards, Building Regulations, Planning Consent, Manufactures Recommendations, Specification, Agreement Certification & Codes of Practice recognised by the industry.

* Advise the Project Surveyor, Principal Surveyor and Senior Construction Manager on issues associated with matters of quality, finish and compliance with the specification, having due regard to the requirements of the Contract Administrator and value for money.

* Undertake site inspections, take contemporaneous records of resources, workmanship, materials, defects as appropriate and report on and discharge findings. * Attend and report at pre-contract and site progress meetings.

* Identify technical problems on site, to recommend corrective measures and to ensure that Contractors take timely corrective action when defects are discovered.

* Prepare schedules of defects and to certify rectification of snagging items.

* Attend site progress, Project Completion Handover and End of Defects inspection meetings as required by Project Surveyor, Principal Surveyor, and to assist in compiling and discharging lists of unsatisfactory works.

* Monitor site progress through appropriate system, focusing on contractor resources, health and safety compliance and quality of works.

* Positively contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant Quality systems/procedures/processes.

* Perform as the Capital Works ambassador for quality, engaging with residents and other stakeholders to provide confidence in the services the Capital Works Team perform
