Teaching Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit - Enfield, London

A Pupil Referral Unit in Islington are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join immediately. The position has become available as they have a new intake of students who require support. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals confident in their behaviour management skills to gain experience within a PRU setting, or for those with mainstream school experience seeking a new challenge.

The school provides placements for vulnerable primary aged pupils on fixed term exclusions, managed moves or permanent exclusions from their mainstream school. Enfield PRUs have a shared vision to support the needs of each individual pupil and deliver outstanding education.

Applicants can expect a nurturing environment where reward strategies are implemented regularly to improve pupils' behaviour. Teaching and support staff work closely together to ensure pupils get the best learning support and progress as a result.

The position is:

• Full time - working from 8.30am to 4pm
• Long term - starting immediately on an ongoing basis
• To support pupils of Primary age groups with challenging behaviour

In this school the class sizes are small (less than 10 pupils) and the ratio of staff to students is high.

Applicants with a Team Teach qualification (or equivalent) will be preferred, however this is not essential. Pupils in the school have often experienced traumatic personal lives which has disrupted their education. It is therefore very important that applicants are patient, resilient and passionate about ensuring pupils receive an outstanding education.
