Teaching Assistant - South-East London - PRU - Immediate Start

We are looking for a teaching assistant with previous experience working with 11-16 year olds with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (BESD/SEBD/SEMH)

A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for young people who have been excluded from mainstream education due to presenting with challenging behaviour are now looking for a teaching assistant to start immediately for a temporary role through to the end of the academic year.

A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for young people who have been excluded from mainstream education due to presenting with challenging behaviour are now looking for a teaching assistant to start immediately for a role that will last until the end of the academic year.

The successful Teaching Assistant will be working in a centre that provides an alternative to mainstream education for 11-16 aged pupils whose needs have not been met within mainstream provision. These pupils are referred by the local authority, mainly due to being excluded from school due to presenting with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (EBD/BESD).

The Teaching Assistant role will involve working 1:1 outside the classroom, giving in class support to the class teacher during lessons and doing some small group interventions both on the education and pastoral side. Ideally we are looking for a teaching assistant who has previous experience working in a PRU/Alternative Provision or similar environment.
