Our client, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for an Assistant Team Manager to join their Looked After Childrens team.

An interim opportunity as a Assistant Team Manager has arisen within the Looked After Children's (LAC) Team at Solihull Council. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is passionate, committed and dedicated to improving the lives of children & young people. The role offers the opportunity to be creative, influence practice and support children to achieve positive outcomes.

The LAC team has been judged as 'good' by Ofsted. We have an established, supportive and creative team with a strong focus upon being a good corporate parent. Social workers within the team have responsibility for securing permanency for children with plans of adoption, long term fostering and special guardianship. Family Support Workers undertake life story work, family time and parenting work. We work closely with a range of teams/partners to provide children in care with good, quality care.

You will be responsible for managing Social Workers and deputising for the Team Manager. You will have experience of practice with children and families and of supervising student social workers and other staff.

You will work with the Team Manager to take responsibility for the day to day operational management of the team, to ensure that vulnerable children and their families receive a responsive service that promotes and safeguards their welfare.

You will also be part of the leadership team, to promote a learning environment within the team and develop the skills of team members to enable them to do their job well. You will be social work qualified and registered as a social worker with HCPC

The successful candidate must have significant social work experience and an experienced manager. They should also have managed child protection, care proceedings and permanence planning casework.

You will need to be:

Social work england registered
Eligible to work in the UK
Atleast 1 year post qualifying experience
