Service Manager - Calderdale - Leaving Care Service

If you thrive on building effective and creative relationships with key professionals we want to hear from you. You will work in a prime location in London where children are firmly at the centre of service delivery.

You will be responsible for a controlled caseload until the cases are either closed or transferred to the Children Looked After service.

  1. To manage the Pathways Service providing day to day operational direction and decisions.
  2. To be an inspirational leader who is emotionally intelligent, resilient and reflective in their practice.
  3. To involve and engage service users in the design, development, quality assurance and delivery of the service, keeping them at the heart of everything that we do.
  4. To lead the delivery of a high quality flexible, responsive social work service to young people as they transition into adulthood.
  5. To promote equality of opportunity ensuring the team adheres to the Leaders in Diversity standard.
  6. To manage the contract between Prospects and Calderdale Council ensuring that we comply with the key performance indicators, quality framework and financial regulations.
  7. To represent the service at Calderdale's operational management meetings, corporate parenting and other meetings as required.
  8. To work with the Local Authority to develop the strategy for the service in line with legislation, best practice, corporate parents and service users views.
  9. To work with Children's Social Care and partner agencies to ensure a smooth transition across services and facilitates access to appropriate provision for young people and unaccompanied asylum seekers.

Professional Social work qualification ( DipSW, social work degree)

  • Current registration as a Social worker with the HCPC
  • Management experience with a relevant management qualification or evidence of having undertaken in-service management training is desirable.
  • Experience of delivering services in a partnership environment that works together to improve outcomes for young people.
  • Experience of delivering high performing services that have improved outcomes for children and young people.
  • Experience and understanding of the needs of young people leaving care and our responsibilities as a corporate parent and grandparent.
  • Detailed knowledge of the legislative framework, national policy and best practice in relation to looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum seekers.
  • Evidence of being able to make effective decisions in line with legislation, best practice and value for money in relation to the care and support of individual children and young people.
  • Strong safeguarding and risk management practice that has been applied to work with young people.
  • Experience of leading and developing a high functioning multi-disciplinary team, providing appropriate supervision, training and support.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing HR processes.
  • Finance and budgetary experience.
  • Experience of promoting services to partner agencies, young people or the wider community.
  • Experience of developing services in line with national quality standards and inspection frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of the health and safety requirements and how these apply within this setting.
  • Good administrative skills to manage premises, finances, record keeping and contract management.
  • Resilient with the emotional intelligence to lead in a pressurised environment
