Senior Highway Agreements Engineer

You will have significant proven experience of technical approval of major transportation projects under Section 38 and 278 of the Highway Act 1980.

You will be responsible for providing an effective service covering all aspects of Highway Agreements across the Borough. Your role will focus mainly on Technical Approval of Highway Works which can range from a pedestrian crossing to major infrastructure delivery for urban extensions. Your advice will be required from initial enquiry through the Technical Approval and adoption process. You will be responsible for the Technical Approval of works, inspection of works, and the adoption of new transportation assets.

You will lead on examining and assessing S38/S278 technical submissions, and provide formal responses on behalf of the Highway Authority. Working within the national guidelines, contributing and developing own development standards you will deal with a range of projects varying in size and implications. Your supervision of inspections of Highway assets form time-to-time, will ensure that records are compiled in accordance with Council policies.

This role will involve partnership working across service areas, in particular with Highways & Transport, Planning, Law and Democratic Services, and developers in the context of detailed design approvals and inspection of new transport infrastructure.
