SEN Teacher - PMLD - Greenwich

  • Pay £140 - £195 per day

I am seeking to appoint a specialist SEN Teacher - PMLD for a highly successful SEN school based in the London borough of Greenwich. The school provides an outstanding level of care and education for young people aged 11 to 19 who have a range of needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and complex autistic spectrum disorders (ASD).

The school is base in Greenwich, it is well served by public transport with excellent rail, tube and bus services making commuting accessible from almost anywhere. It provides an environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can build the skills to interact with the outside world.

I require a motivated, skilled and resilient class SEN Teacher - PMLD with experience of working in an SLD or PMLD environment or a strong interest in teaching children with complex needs and a track record as an outstanding teacher in a mainstream environment (preferably EYFS or KS1). The role may suit a primary qualified teacher, or someone who has gained significant experience of working in a lower school environment but secondary teachers with relevant experience should also apply. The chosen candidate will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas. You may have experience of supporting young people with severe learning difficulties or PMLD but this will not be essential. You will have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people.

With the support of colleagues, you will develop the skills, confidence and experience to deal with the challenging needs that the students have. You will be supported by a highly dedicated and experienced team of LSAs in class who will help you hit the ground running due to their training and in depth knowledge of the pupils. This role may involve some personal care. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and emotional resilience are essential attributes. As Class Teacher, you will direct and mentor classroom support staff.

Experience of working in a SEN environment is desirable, along with knowledge of working with SLD and PMLD needs .

You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme.
