Job description

Remedy Education are currently working with an excellent SEND college in Lambeth (Balham) who are looking for an experienced, dedicated and pro-active Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The position will be based with post 16 pupils in small classes supporting children with Hoist, Manual Handling needs and Personal Care.

You will be working with children aged between 19 - 25, each with statements of Special Education Needs. Most of the children you will be working with have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. You will be working 1:1 with a particular student but will also be required to support several children across the school.

The personal care duties will include:

  • PEG feeding
  • Changing the students
  • Feeding orally
  • Helping students to brush their teeth

To be eligible to apply for this position, you will need to be available to start September, as well as being able to commit to working 8.30am - 4.15pm, 5 days per week. You must have a good command of numeracy and literacy, as this is especially important when supporting pupils with limited communication skills.

Ideally, you will have the following experience:

  • PMLD experience
  • LSA or care experience
  • SEND experience
  • Experience in or willing to do personal care and manual handling

If you have experience working with children or young adults with special education needs, and are interested in making a positive contribution to the lives of young people, please send your CV to Carly Walters at Remedy Education.
