Rental Income Support Officer.

Remedy Recruitment are working with the Local Authority within London and are currently seeking an experienced Rental Income Support Officer. This is a fast pace, exciting role that sits within the Housing Needs.

Job Purpose-

To ensure that all tenants adhere to their tenancy conditions regarding rent payment and that appropriate recovery action is taken where necessary. To maximise rental income.

Main Duties and Responsibilities-

  • To lead, motivate and support teams of officers to deliver a high quality, high performing, value for money service to tenants and other customers for rent collection and arrears recovery.
  • To manage individual team members and be responsible for staff development within the team including, training, 1 to 1s, annual appraisals and addressing performance issues.
  • To develop area strategies aimed at maximising rent collection and recovery of arrears across the housing stock.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of measures to militate the impact of Welfare Reform.
  • To contribute to the development of systems, processes and procedures aimed at maximising service efficiency and rent income.
  • To provide performance reports for the team as required.
  • Ensuring a prompt response is provided by staff when dealing with enquires from customers, their representatives and internal/external partners.
  • To proactively support and encourage tenant participation in the development of the service.
  • To undertake the monitoring and delivery of service standards.
  • To deputise for the Manager as required.
  • To represent the section at meetings as required.
  • To ensure that all health and safety issues are addressed in relation to staff, customers and all other persons, complying with corporate procedures.
  • To demonstrate a commitment to equality / diversity in both the delivery of services and to staff. This will include demonstrating awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people's behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs. This will also include that there are effective arrangements in place to identify and support vulnerable residents.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the position as designated by the line manager.

The successful candidate will require the following attributes-

  • Knowledge of housing law and current housing issues specifically in relation to rent recovery.
  • Awareness of Benefit and Welfare Reform Legislation.
  • Experience of performance management.
  • Previous experience of income collection within a housing environment.
  • Dealing with Customers in one to one situations.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and service complaints.
  • Ability to prioritise work load.
  • Good literacy and numeracy levels.
  • IT Literate/good keyboard skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Minimum 2 years experienced within a housing sector.
