Job description

The role involves working in partnership with colleagues from other agencies, outside the YOTPS and those seconded into the service in order to plan and deliver services aimed at reducing and preventing youth crime.

The post holder will be required to carry out assessments, prepare reports and manage all appropriate orders made by the Courts ensuring interventions appropriately address both public protection and safeguarding using the Council's policies and procedures to assist you.


You will have excellent communication and assessment skills; the ability to implement intervention plans making best use of appropriate and targeted resources; the organisational skills to undertake challenging work within tight deadlines, and maintain up-to-date records in line with National Standards; knowledge of both court work and case management and the ability to work well under your own initiative and as part of a multi-agency Service.

You will have an ability to interpret legislation and translate into practice, in addition to having an up-to-date knowledge of childcare & young justice legislation, (particularly the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, Powers of Criminal Courts [Sentencing] Act 2000, Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, Criminal Justice Act 2003).
